History: Once the Coachman's cottage on Mt Palm station . When the motor car was introduced the coachman was retired with 200 acres and buildings moved to present site which became the farm supplying milk to the district. Later sheep breeding.
Rotherham village 8 mins; Waiau 10 mins. Culverden 12 mins.
How to get there: From Picton, State Highway 1. Turn right at Leader river follow signposts to Waiau and Rotherham.
From Christchurch- State Hwy 1 turn left at Waipara onto State Hwy 7 heading west. 3 km after Culverden right fork at Red Post corner to Rotherham.
From West Coast: Lewis Pass -road. 16 km past Hanmer Springs take the left turn at Mouse point to Waiau and Rotherham.
At Rotherham drive east from Hotel along Heaton street towards the Lowry Peaks range. It becomes Mt. Palm road keep on seal for 8 km. Across the one lane bridge and you will see the main house on your right with cottage behind. At Ben Lomond road tree lined driveway (number 6 on the gate) immediately to your right. Cottage at end of drive.
